Unprecedented image quality
Image quality is superb throughout the zoom range at all focusing distances. Two aspherical elements, one an XA (extreme aspherical) type, ensure high resolution throughout the image area. Two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements, and one ED aspherical element minimise chromatic aberration, while Sony’s Nano AR Coating II subdues flare and ghosting. High-performance 1.4x and 2x teleconverters are available.
Exquisite G Master bokeh
Beautiful G Master bokeh is achieved through advanced optical design, an F2.8 aperture, and a new 11-blade aperture unit. An XA element manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision suppresses onion ring bokeh, and the new aperture unit helps to deliver natural circular bokeh. Close-up bokeh is superb too, with a minimum focusing distance of just 0.4 meters (1.32ft) at 70mm and 0.82 meters (2.69ft) at 200mm.
Fast, precise AF supports creative shooting
Four of Sony’s original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors deliver high thrust efficiency that boosts AF speed by up to 4x compared to the previous model. When tracking an approaching short-distance runner, for example, tracking while zooming is improved by approx. 30% compared to the previous model, greatly increasing chances of getting the shot.
Professional movie capability
The latest lens technology reduces focus breathing, focus shift when zooming, and axis shift when zooming. XD Linear Motors and a new aperture drive unit contribute to quiet operation. SSO Payday Carnival
Sony (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. ("Sony") is responsible for this SSO Payday Carnival (“Campaign”).
Sony reserves the right to cancel or amend the Campaign and the terms and conditions of this Campaign (“Terms and Conditions”) at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on the Site.
Qualifying Participants
1. The Campaign is open only to participants who are residents of Malaysia as at the date of participation. Participants who are below the age of 18 years old are required to obtain the consent of their parents or guardians to participate in this Campaign.
2. You warrant to indemnify Sony against any and all claims in relation to your participation of this Campaign and breach of its Terms and Conditions contained herein. Sony’s rights are hereby expressly reserved.
3. Employees of Sony and its affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, retailers and dealers, promoters/shopfront staff under direct/indirect the employment of Sony together with their employees, and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each of the aforesaid persons are not eligible to participate in this Campaign.
4. Sony reserves the right to disqualify and/or exclude any entries from the Campaign, for any reason and for no reason, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these Terms and Conditions.
5. By accepting any prize, you (the “Customer”) are deemed to have agreed and accepted the following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") of this Campaign.
Campaign Rules
1. This Campaign is applicable to purchases from Sony Store Online only. Purchases from physical stores and other third-party platforms are not eligible to this Campaign.
2. Campaign period is from 25th June – 30th June, 2025 (“Campaign Period”).

Campaign Entries
1. By accepting any prize awarded as part of this Campaign you thereby (a) specifically authorize Sony to use and/or have third parties to use any information submitted by you in whole or in part, throughout the world, in perpetuity in or on any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, and alone or together or as part of other information, content and/or material of any kind or nature for the marketing purpose; (b) represents and warrants that all elements contained in the information submitted by you as part of this Campaign (i) is original to you or fully cleared for use as contemplated herein, (ii) does and will not, in any way, violate or breach any of the terms of any other agreement you may be a party to, (iii) is not unlawful information, infringes or violates any copyright or other right (including the image rights), (iv) does not contain libelous, tortuous, or the publication or sale of which will violate any federal or state statute or regulation, (iv) is not obscene or in any other manner unlawful, and (v) shall not require Sony to pay or incur any sums to any person or entity as a result of Sony’s use or exploitation of the same. You shall indemnify and hold harmless Sony and its affiliates from and against any claim, action, damage, loss and costs and expenses (including legal fees and professional fees) arising from or in connection with any breach of the foregoing.

Acceptance of prizes shall constitute consent on the Customer’s part to allow the use by Sony of the Customer’s name, nickname, image, voice, likeness and/or the fact that the participant participated in the Campaign or won any prizes for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing and/or other purposes without further notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law. Acceptance of any participation and/or prizes shall constitute a release and discharge of Sony and/or its authorized representatives by each Customer from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, and/or damages which the Customer may have, whether known or unknown at the present time, of any nature whatsoever, arising out of or relating to: (i) the Campaign, (ii) personal injury and/or property damage, theft or loss suffered by the participant as a result of the use and/or enjoyment of the Campaign or prizes, and/or (iii) any tax liabilities in relation to the Campaign, prizes and/or use or enjoyment of the same.

This may include, but not be limited to, quotes given for inclusion in press releases and press conferences, interviews, etc.
Prizes
1. In the event that a Customer that has won a prize (a “Winner”) (i) does not respond to Sony within seven (7) days of being notified by Sony of his/her win; (ii) refuses to provide his/her name, address and contact information for the purpose of delivering the Prize; (iii) has breached any Terms and Conditions herein; or (iv) his/her entry is invalid for whatever reasons, his/her Prize will be forfeited and Sony shall be entitled to select another Winner.
2. In the event that any Winner is disqualified from the Campaign, Sony, at its sole discretion, may decide whether a replacement Winner should be selected. In this event, any further Winner will be selected on the same criteria as set out in the Terms and Conditions. Sony can repeat this process any number of times until it has selected a satisfactory Winner in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
3. Sony’s decision for all Winners is final.
4. Sony has the final decision pertaining to any dispute on selection of Winner. Any appeals made including appeals to check the status of the Campaign entries, will not be entertained.

- Sony reserves the right to withhold Prizes pending verification of the Winner’s compliance with the Terms and Conditions of the Campaign.
- Prizes will be delivered to Winners by post to the address as provided by the Winners to Sony. Sony will not be liable for any loss and/or failure to deliver once the Prizes are handed to postage company and shall not be responsible to replace the Prize for the affected Winner.
- Where applicable, prizes not collected within 4 weeks from the date of notification for collection shall be disposed of at Sony’s sole discretion. Sony’s decision regarding the award of all prizes, and/or in every situation including any not covered in these Terms and Conditions, shall be final and binding on all participants in the Campaign, and no queries, themes or appeals may be made or entertained regarding Sony’s decision on the same. Liabilities
1. Sony cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment whatsoever suffered by any person as a result of this Campaign. By accepting any prize, you indemnify and hold Sony harmless against all claims arising from and/or in connection with your participation in this Campaign.
2. By accepting the prize, you agree that no claim relating to such losses or injuries (including special, indirect and consequential losses) shall be asserted against Sony, its parent companies, affiliates, directors, officers, employees or agents from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind resulting from the Campaign and acceptance of any prize, including without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage.
Use of Personal Information
1. All information, including personal information (“Information”) submitted or known to Sony and/or its affiliates in connection with this Campaign will only be used for the purposes set out in and treated in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and those stipulated in the Privacy Policy of Sony at https://www.sony-asia.com/microsite/privacypolicy/my/ (“Privacy Policy”).
2. In addition to those stipulated in the Privacy Policy, by accepting any prize, you agree:
(a) to the use of the Information, without compensation, for Sony’s promotional and marketing purposes; and
(b) to the use of the Information, without compensation, for the purpose of administration in relation to the Campaign.
Miscellaneous
1. Sony reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend this Campaign without any liability to you should there be unforeseeable events which in Sony’s absolute opinion may jeopardize the process of the Campaign.
2. Sony reserves the right to amend/change the Terms and Conditions without any liability to the participants.
3. In the event of disputes regarding the Campaign or the Terms and Conditions of the Campaign, Sony shall have the right to make the final decision.

Superior G Master resolution is achieved throughout the entire 70mm to 200mm zoom range at all focusing distances. Two aspherical lens elements, one an XA (extreme aspherical) type manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision, effectively control distance-related aberration so that outstanding resolution is ensured throughout the image area.
Aberration controlled for superb images
Two spherical elements that use ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, plus two more that use Super ED glass significantly reduce chromatic aberration for sharp reproduction without colour bleeding. ED aspherical element is also used, simultaneously suppressing chromatic and spherical aberration that are common issues in telephoto lenses.
Excellent close-up performance
This lens offers excellent close-up performance for a zoom. Minimum focus is 0.4 meters (1.32 ft) at 70mm and 0.82 (2.69 ft) meters at 200mm. Maximum magnification is 0.3x. Deep bokeh at F2.8 adds extra expressive close-up capability. Floating focus ensures pinpoint sharpness even at minimum focus distance, while inner focus makes it easy to get close.
Nano AR Coating II for maximum clarity
Nano AR Coating II produces a uniform anti-reflection coating on lens surfaces, effectively subduing flare and ghosting. The lens’s optical design also effectively suppresses internal reflections that can reduce clarity when shooting landscapes or sports.
Stunning G Master bokeh
An XA element manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision suppresses onion ring bokeh, while precise spherical aberration control boosts bokeh quality. ED (extra-low dispersion) and Super ED glass spherical elements, plus one ED aspherical element, effectively minimise colour bleeding for beautiful bokeh without unnatural colouration.
New high-performance aperture unit
Even the aperture unit in this lens has been refined to meet the highest G Master quality standards. A newly developed 11-blade aperture unit that remains almost perfectly circular from wide open to stopped down by two stops helps to deliver the kind of natural-looking circular bokeh users have come to expect from a G Master design.
Fast, precise autofocus
This lens works with α series bodies to reliably focus on and smoothly track even fast-moving subjects. Four high-thrust XD Linear Motors and advanced control technology deliver up to 4x faster AF than the SEL70200GM. Focus tracking capability while zooming is improved by approximately 30% compared to the SEL70200GM.
High-performance teleconverters
Optional high-performance 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters extend the lens’s focal length to a maximum of 400mm (600mm on an APS-C body) at F5.6. Full G Master quality is maintained when the teleconverters are in use. Maximum aperture with the 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters is F4 and F5.6, respectively.
Designed for refined movie imagery

Versatile manual movie control
Independent control rings for focus, zoom, and iris, allow precise manual operation in movie applications. The aperture ring has a click on/off switch that allows the aperture click switch stops to be turned ON for tactile feedback when shooting stills, or OFF for smooth, silent iris control when shooting movies.

Iris lock stops unwanted exposure shifts
An iris lock switch prevents unwanted exposure changes while shooting. When locked, the aperture is either locked at the [A] position or can be rotated between any of the manual settings from F2.8 to F22. When unlocked, the aperture ring can be rotated between [A] and any of the manual settings without limitation.
Full-time DMF supports pinpoint focus
When the Full-time DMF is ON, manual focus is automatically engaged when the focus ring is operated, even in AF-C mode. This allows quick correction when autofocus targets the wrong subject, and is a great way to refine focus after initial autofocus. Full-time DMF is not affected by focus-range limiter switch settings.
Natural, linear manual focus response
Linear Response MF ensures that the focus ring responds directly and linearly to subtle control when focusing manually while shooting stills or movies. Focus ring rotation translates directly to a corresponding change in focus, so control feels immediate and precise when shooting stills or movies.
Optical image stabilization with MODE 3
Built-in optical image stabilisation makes it easy to shoot sharp images handheld. MODE 2 stabilization is optimized for panning shots, while MODE 3 emphasizes framing stability when shooting dynamic, unpredictable motion. 5-axis image stabilisation becomes available when the lens is mounted on an α body that has in-body image stabilization.
Three customisable focus hold buttons
Three customisable focus hold buttons are provided 90° apart for easy access and convenient control when shooting in horizontal or vertical orientation, and just about any angle. One function can be assigned to the focus hold buttons from the body menus.
Focus-range limiter
A focus-range limiter switch (FULL/∞ ~ 3m) makes it possible to limit AF operation to a predetermined range to maximise AF speed and prevent focusing on unwanted objects.
Dust and moisture resistant design
Dust and moisture resistance are notably improved compared to previous model. All seams are sealed, buttons and switches have silicone rubber gaskets, and a rubber ring seals the lens mount. The internal zoom mechanism further resists dust and moisture while maintaining a constant lens barrel length.
Fluorine front element coating
The front lens element features a fluorine coating that repels water, oil, and other contaminants, while making it easier to wipe off any contaminants or fingerprints that do become attached to the lens surface.
New lens hood design
The supplied lens hood features an opening that allows convenient operation of circular polarizing or variable ND filters. It also has a flocked interior that is highly effective in preventing unwanted reflections. Silicone rubber is used on the circular front edge of the hood to enhance overall usability.
Removable tripod mount
A removable tripod mount allows quick attachment to or removal from a tripod so the user can easily switch between tripod and handheld shooting. The mount can also be removed for convenient transport and storage. A lock mechanism prevents accidental removal.

Acceptance of prizes shall constitute consent on the Customer’s part to allow the use by Sony of the Customer’s name, nickname, image, voice, likeness and/or the fact that the participant participated in the Campaign or won any prizes for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing and/or other purposes without further notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law. Acceptance of any participation and/or prizes shall constitute a release and discharge of Sony and/or its authorized representatives by each Customer from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, and/or damages which the Customer may have, whether known or unknown at the present time, of any nature whatsoever, arising out of or relating to: (i) the Campaign, (ii) personal injury and/or property damage, theft or loss suffered by the participant as a result of the use and/or enjoyment of the Campaign or prizes, and/or (iii) any tax liabilities in relation to the Campaign, prizes and/or use or enjoyment of the same.
4. By accepting any prize you agree to be contacted by Sony or its authorized representatives to participate in public relations events tied to the Campaign to generate press coverage of the Campaign and the accessories range. This may include, but not be limited to, quotes given for inclusion in press releases and press conferences, interviews, etc.
Prizes
1. In the event that a Customer that has won a prize (a “Winner”) (i) does not respond to Sony within seven (7) days of being notified by Sony of his/her win; (ii) refuses to provide his/her name, address and contact information for the purpose of delivering the Prize; (iii) has breached any Terms and Conditions herein; or (iv) his/her entry is invalid for whatever reasons, his/her Prize will be forfeited and Sony shall be entitled to select another Winner.
2. In the event that any Winner is disqualified from the Campaign, Sony, at its sole discretion, may decide whether a replacement Winner should be selected. In this event, any further Winner will be selected on the same criteria as set out in the Terms and Conditions. Sony can repeat this process any number of times until it has selected a satisfactory Winner in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
3. Sony’s decision for all Winners is final.
4. Sony has the final decision pertaining to any dispute on selection of Winner. Any appeals made including appeals to check the status of the Campaign entries, will not be entertained.

- Sony reserves the right to withhold Prizes pending verification of the Winner’s compliance with the Terms and Conditions of the Campaign.
- Prizes will be delivered to Winners by post to the address as provided by the Winners to Sony. Sony will not be liable for any loss and/or failure to deliver once the Prizes are handed to postage company and shall not be responsible to replace the Prize for the affected Winner.
- Where applicable, prizes not collected within 4 weeks from the date of notification for collection shall be disposed of at Sony’s sole discretion. Sony’s decision regarding the award of all prizes, and/or in every situation including any not covered in these Terms and Conditions, shall be final and binding on all participants in the Campaign, and no queries, themes or appeals may be made or entertained regarding Sony’s decision on the same. Liabilities
1. Sony cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment whatsoever suffered by any person as a result of this Campaign. Sony does not accept any liability for any damages suffered by you, or any other persons, arising from and/or as a result of your participation in this Campaign. By accepting any prize, you indemnify and hold Sony harmless against all claims arising from and/or in connection with your participation in this Campaign.
2. By accepting the prize, you agree that no claim relating to such losses or injuries (including special, indirect and consequential losses) shall be asserted against Sony, its parent companies, affiliates, directors, officers, employees or agents from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind resulting from the Campaign and acceptance of any prize, including without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage.
Use of Personal Information
1. All information, including personal information (“Information”) submitted or known to Sony and/or its affiliates in connection with this Campaign will only be used for the purposes set out in and treated in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and those stipulated in the Privacy Policy of Sony at https://www.sony-asia.com/microsite/privacypolicy/my/ (“Privacy Policy”).
2. In addition to those stipulated in the Privacy Policy, by accepting any prize, you agree:
(a) to the use of the Information, without compensation, for Sony’s promotional and marketing purposes; and
(b) to the use of the Information, without compensation, for the purpose of administration in relation to the Campaign.
Miscellaneous
1. Sony reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend this Campaign without any liability to you should there be unforeseeable events which in Sony’s absolute opinion may jeopardize the process of the Campaign.
2. Sony reserves the right to amend/change the Terms and Conditions without any liability to the participants.
3. In the event of disputes regarding the Campaign or the Terms and Conditions of the Campaign, Sony shall have the right to make the final decision.
4. The Terms and Conditions of this Campaign shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.

XA element for breathtaking resolution
Superior G Master resolution is achieved throughout the entire 70mm to 200mm zoom range at all focusing distances. Two aspherical lens elements, one an XA (extreme aspherical) type manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision, effectively control distance-related aberration so that outstanding resolution is ensured throughout the image area.
Aberration controlled for superb images
Two spherical elements that use ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, plus two more that use Super ED glass significantly reduce chromatic aberration for sharp reproduction without colour bleeding. ED aspherical element is also used, simultaneously suppressing chromatic and spherical aberration that are common issues in telephoto lenses.
Excellent close-up performance
This lens offers excellent close-up performance for a zoom. Minimum focus is 0.4 meters (1.32 ft) at 70mm and 0.82 (2.69 ft) meters at 200mm. Maximum magnification is 0.3x. Deep bokeh at F2.8 adds extra expressive close-up capability. Floating focus ensures pinpoint sharpness even at minimum focus distance, while inner focus makes it easy to get close.
Nano AR Coating II for maximum clarity
Nano AR Coating II produces a uniform anti-reflection coating on lens surfaces, effectively subduing flare and ghosting. The lens’s optical design also effectively suppresses internal reflections that can reduce clarity when shooting landscapes or sports.
Stunning G Master bokeh
An XA element manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision suppresses onion ring bokeh, while precise spherical aberration control boosts bokeh quality. Even the aperture unit in this lens has been refined to meet the highest G Master quality standards. A newly developed 11-blade aperture unit that remains almost perfectly circular from wide open to stopped down by two stops helps to deliver the kind of natural-looking circular bokeh users have come to expect from a G Master design.
Fast, precise autofocus
This lens works with α series bodies to reliably focus on and smoothly track even fast-moving subjects. Four high-thrust XD Linear Motors and advanced control technology deliver up to 4x faster AF than the SEL70200GM. Focus tracking capability while zooming is improved by approximately 30% compared to the SEL70200GM.
High-performance teleconverters
Optional high-performance 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters extend the lens’s focal length to a maximum of 400mm (600mm on an APS-C body) at F5.6. Full G Master quality is maintained when the teleconverters are in use. Maximum aperture with the 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters is F4 and F5.6, respectively.
Designed for refined movie imagery
The latest lens design technology reduces focus breathing, focus shift when zooming, and axis shift when zooming. XD Linear Motors and a newly developed aperture drive unit also contribute to quiet operation, greatly reducing noise and vibration that can interfere with movie recording.
Versatile manual movie control
Independent control rings for focus, zoom, and iris, allow precise manual operation in movie applications. The aperture ring has a click on/off switch that allows the aperture click switch stops to be turned ON for tactile feedback when shooting stills, or OFF for smooth, silent iris control when shooting movies.
The world’s lightest for superior handling
This unique lens offers outstanding optical quality and AF in the world’s lightest F2.8 70-200mm zoom. XD Linear Motors and magnesium alloy barrel components result in an overall weight of just 1045 grams (36.9 oz) ; approximately 29% lighter than the previous model. Advanced design improves overall balance and handling.
Iris lock stops unwanted exposure shifts
An iris lock switch prevents unwanted exposure changes while shooting. When locked, the aperture is either locked at the [A] position or can be rotated between any of the manual settings from F2.8 to F22. When unlocked, the aperture ring can be rotated between [A] and any of the manual settings without limitation.
Full-time DMF supports pinpoint focus
When the Full-time DMF is ON, manual focus is automatically engaged when the focus ring is operated, even in AF-C mode. This allows quick correction when autofocus targets the wrong subject, and is a great way to refine focus after initial autofocus. Full-time DMF is not affected by focus-range limiter switch settings.
Natural, linear manual focus response
Linear Response MF ensures that the focus ring responds directly and linearly to subtle control when focusing manually while shooting stills or movies. Focus ring rotation translates directly to a corresponding change in focus, so control feels immediate and precise when shooting stills or movies.
Optical image stabilization with MODE 3
Built-in optical image stabilisation makes it easy to shoot sharp images handheld. MODE 2 stabilization is optimized for panning shots, while MODE 3 emphasizes framing stability when shooting dynamic, unpredictable motion. 5-axis image stabilisation becomes available when the lens is mounted on an α body that has in-body image stabilization.
Three customisable focus hold buttons
Three customisable focus hold buttons are provided 90° apart for easy access and convenient control when shooting in horizontal or vertical orientation, and just about any angle. One function can be assigned to the focus hold buttons from the body menus.
Focus-range limiter
A focus-range limiter switch (FULL/∞ ~ 3m) makes it possible to limit AF operation to a predetermined range to maximise AF speed and prevent focusing on unwanted objects.
Dust and moisture resistant design
Dust and moisture resistance are notably improved compared to previous model. All seams are sealed, buttons and switches have silicone rubber gaskets, and a rubber ring seals the lens mount. The internal zoom mechanism further resists dust and moisture while maintaining a constant lens barrel length.
Fluorine front element coating
The front lens element features a fluorine coating that repels water, oil, and other contaminants, while making it easier to wipe off any contaminants or fingerprints that do become attached to the lens surface.
New lens hood design
The supplied lens hood features an opening that allows convenient operation of circular polarizing or variable ND filters. It also has a flocked interior that is highly effective in preventing unwanted reflections. Silicone rubber is used on the circular front edge of the hood to enhance overall usability.
Removable tripod mount
A removable tripod mount allows quick attachment to or removal from a tripod so the user can easily switch between tripod and handheld shooting. The mount can also be removed for convenient transport and storage. A lock mechanism prevents accidental removal.
